You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Nino! Nino's journey began when he was found as a stray, abandoned in a field in Texas with a bowl of food next to him. Nino absolutely loves his people. He's a happy-go-lucky pup who's incredibly food and treat motivated, just mention a snack and and he'll eagerly trot over, ready for his goodies. He loves to chew on bones and toys and is very quick to find and kill the squeaker in all toys. He should be supervised when playing with stuffed toys because once he finds the squeaker, he may try and eat it. Stuffed toys are his favorite though and he will steal all that he finds! One of Nino's favorite activities is going to the vet's office. He's excited to see all of his friends there and has never met a stranger that he hasn't liked. He also loves kids and will try to follow them everywhere. Nino is best buds with his Chihuahua pal, and enjoys playing with other dogs too, especially when there are bones or toys involved. He can be dog selective, especially around dogs larger then him and those with alpha personalities. Slow introductions will be very important for everyone's success. While he's a goofball at heart, Nino's also a smart cookie who knows how to get what he wants – like sneaking back inside to grab a stuffed toy when no one's looking! He's a bit of a character, always keeping his foster family on their toes with his antics. Nino is on a daily dose of Prednisone and it causes him to have to pee more frequently. His foster family is working on training him to go outside but also to use potty pads if he has an emergency. He is doing well on his house training when let out on a regular cadence. Nino has a condition called Steroid Responsive Meningitis Arteritis which is an autoimmune disease that is simply being managed with a daily dose of prednisone. Due to this autoimmune disease, Nino is unable to be vaccinated but has had a Rabies vaccine. Nino is also a bone cancer survivor! He has been getting chest radiographs completed every 3 months to confirm no spread of cancer. The veterinarians recommend having these completed until March of 2025 where they will fully consider him in remission. If you're looking for a goofy, smart, and lovable companion who'll keep you entertained with his antics, Nino might just be the perfect match for you. So, if you're ready to open your heart and home to this delightful pup, Nino's waiting to meet you! Nino currently lives with big and small dogs and adults. He can be dog selective when it comes to dogs larger them him, especially those with an alpha personality. He has never been introduced to cats. Nino is a tripod, so a home with a lot of stairs that he needs to use often could be challenging but he is learning to use ramps to get around the house easier. Nino is from Texas.
