Story
Socialization:  Jasper warms up to people and dogs quickly. He is very polite. At the dog park he loves to play and chase. He will say hello to every human and dog. He loves the company of other dogs and would do well with another playful dog in the home. Jasper also thrives in human company - he loves to cuddle and will happily nap with you. Jasper would also do best in a home with slightly older children who can respect his boundaries. Overall he has adjusted reasonably well to city life. Jasper is very much a Velcro dog - where you go, he will happily follow. Training:  Jasper is a fast learner. So far he has learned sit, down, and we are working on stay. He is food motivated and wants to please. He could benefit from leash training as he can certainly pull, but this is manageable and improving quickly. We currently use an easy-walk harness which can be sent with him to his forever home. Jasper has also gotten the hang of house training. He goes willingly into his crate with a treat or kibble. He is also getting used to being left alone and will typically settle on the couch when we are not here. He sleeps through the night in his crate from around 10pm up to 7am. Jasper does have a high prey drive towards squirrels and cats, so he cannot be in a home with cats or small animals. He has been fine with small dogs thus far. Activity requirements:  Jasper has setter energy. He loves to play and run but settles down quite well. When we are at home, he is happy to settle and nap nearby while we do our regular tasks; he is not disruptive and only wants to be near. He is incredibly scent driven, so our walks are 'sniffy walks'. Jasper loves the dog park and will romp and socialize with both humans and dogs. He gets a minimum of 2-3 walks per day (with us or his walker), each between 30-45 mins. This is supplemented with regular long leash walks and off-leash time at daycare and dog parks. If he gets a mix of these activities, he can go some days with less exercise. Jasper does certainly need a solid exercise plan (that includes safely running off leash) but he takes to routine well. With training, Jasper also has the potential to be a great running partner! Fence requirements:  Ideally, Jasper would have at least a medium sized yard that is securely fenced. Jasper can be quite prey driven and will try to slip through a fence if motivated enough. An invisible fence could also work. Jasper has some recall but this is not reliable once he's spotted a squirrel or bird. As he needs to be able to run daily, a fence (physical or invisible) is required for adopting Jasper. Personality:  Jasper is a sweetheart. He simply wants a cuddle and to be near you. At home, he likes to settle near you whenever he can. Jasper's forever family would ideally be a home with humans who work from home (or are otherwise mostly at home) and/or with another dog so he isn't left alone. He is a social butterfly with both dogs and humans at the park and daycare. Health history:  Jasper is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, and on monthly flea/tick prevention and heartworm prevention. He was given a clean bill of health at his vet check after arrival to the US in March 2026. His next leishmaniasis test is due January 2027. This dog originates from Greece where Leishmaniasis is endemic. They tested negative before coming to the USA, but the parasite can remain dormant in the system for many years, so potential adopters must be willing to commit to annual testing for the next 7 years. Typically, the test needs to be sent to a special lab, but any regular vet can draw the blood and send it to the lab. The cost of the test seems to vary widely by area, but is approximately $150-$250. or if your vet is willing to send the test to a veterinary college lab, cost can be as low as $80. Foster comments: Jasper is very easy to fall in love with! It has been a pleasure to watch him adjust so well to an urban environment. He is a beautiful dog and has gotten so many admirers in our neighborhood. We know he will bring endless love to his forever family. We are hoping to find him a family that can give him all the love and attention he deserves! Foster location: Philadelphia, PA Transport note: We are able to arrange volunteer transport to get dogs from their foster home to their adopter as long as the adopter and the foster are within a 1,000 mile radius of each other and the adopter is located in the USA. If the adopter is more than 1,000 miles from the foster home, adoption would only be possible if the adopter is willing to drive the distance beyond the 1,000-mile transport limit. Long distance adoptions may also be possible if the adopter is willing to pay for a flight to get their dog from the foster home to their location if the foster feels this is an appropriate arrangement for the specific dog. Canadian adopters would have to drive into the USA to pick up their dog, as we do not transport outside of the USA. ##2666333##

Story
Socialization:  Chloe gets along very well with other dogs. She is respectful of their space and enjoys hunting with them in the backyard. She has not been interested in playing with them but she happily coexists with other dogs. She loves her people and likes to be near and enjoys cuddling on the couch, but she is hesitant with new people. She is interested and wants affection from new people but is hesitant to approach. She overcomes her hesitation quickly with some encouragement and I imagine this will get better over time as she learns people are nice. She gets spooked by loud and sudden sounds both in the home and outside, so she will need a calmer home without lots of comings and goings. She prefers to have a person to cuddle with during thunderstorms! She is timid in new places and gets spooked easily, so a fully fenced backyard is best for her, where she can get fully comfortable and has the room to burn off her young energy daily (as she has quite a bit of it!). Busy/loud urban living and a home with children are not a good fit for her. She is not cat friendly and will go after a cat. Training:  Chloe is house trained and very well behaved in the house. She is very easy to have around! Currently, she is crated when I leave and also overnight. After some initial barking for a few minutes (only when I leave the house), she settles down quickly and does well in the crate. She has not been destructive, so I think she could free roam in the house after some time. She is eager to please, food motivated, and very responsive to correction. For a setter, she listens reasonably well when I call her (unless she is focused on a bird/squirrel) and comes running. When she would like affection, she will come up to you and automatically sit down and lean right into you. If you don't notice her, she is happy to let you know with a gentle nudge with her nose!  Activity requirements:  The weather has been nice, so I have left my back door open for the dogs to come and go as they please, and Chloe chooses to spend several hours outside guarding the backyard from squirrels. She periodically runs back inside for a drink and to check I'm still here or to take a quick nap, then runs outside again. She has quite a bit of energy to burn off daily and does get restless in the house on a bad weather day when she can't be outside as much as she would need to burn off her energy. She has started to play with some toys on bad weather days, but she will need to be well exercised daily. She needs to be able to run in a safely fenced area daily. If her adopter plans to walk her, it needs to be with patience, and the adopter must have the physical capability to handle her if she gets spooked, as she will try to bolt in panic. Fence requirements:  An interesting and decent sized backyard, fenced with a physical fence is a non-negotiable requirement for adopting Chloe. She needs to be able to run daily to burn off her energy, and needs a place where she feels fully comfortable to be able to explore and run. Leash walks are not sufficient exercise for her and dog parks are likely not a good fit. Due to her hesitancy and timidness, an invisible fence is not an option for her. Personality:  Chloe is a very kind, gentle and happy dog. She is very affectionate and loving with her people. She is a very sweet girl and enjoys her cuddle time. It's unfortunate that she's had negative experiences with people in her past, because it's easy to tell that her nature is to be happy and friendly! She often gets excited and when she's happy, she's got that wagging tail! She is curious and eager to please, she is all about her people (and the squirrels, of course) and she prefers to be where her person is but she wants to be close and loves to cuddle without being overly needy or clingy. She is a really nice balance between being sweet and affectionate and being independent and keeping herself occupied when need be. She has been very easy to have around and has been a dream foster! Health history:  Chloe is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, and is on monthly heartworm prevention. She was treated for heartworms prior to her arrival in the USA and is now a healthy girl with no health issues! Her next leishmaniasis test will be due in June 2026. Foster comments: Chloe is a very sweet, loving, affectionate and happy girl! She has been very easy to have around and a dream to foster! She will need a forever home that has a fully fenced backyard that is interesting enough for her to be able to explore and entertain herself. She happily coexists with other dogs, but she is all about her people, so she would do fine as an only dog. Her ideal home will not leave her home alone for long hours, I would like her to go to a home where someone will be able to be with her most of the time. She would do best in a calmer home in a quiet suburb or more rural setting. A home with children or in a loud, city environment are not good fits for her. Foster location: Akron, OH ##2459793##

Story
Socialization:  Grace is shy and submissive but great with other dogs and completely ignores the cat. She is very shy and wary of new people. Grace will need a quiet home and lots of patience. She is extremely shy and uncertain of her new surroundings in the house. She has found quiet, safe spots in the home (behind couches and chairs) including her crate which she enters voluntarily. She will need to be given time to get comfortable at her own pace and settling in for her will take some time. Because she is very shy, a home with young kids is not a good fit for her.  Training:  Grace is crated overnight but once comfortable, she could likely be trusted to be left out. Grace has never had an accident in the house nor does she chew on things she shouldn’t. Grace doesn’t know many commands yet but she is very eager to please. Activity requirements:  Grace is low/moderate energy and would enjoy a fenced yard to play in .She is just learning to walk on a leash but doing very well and doesn’t pull. She would be fine with 2 short walks a day or just run time in the yard. Fence requirements:   Grace needs a fenced yard for some run time, so a fenced yard is a requirement for adopting her. She is still learning to trust people and vehicles we see on our walks and would do well in a quieter setting - no cities. In general she has mild prey drive. She would not be suited for an electric fence. Personality:  Grace is a total sweetheart but needs time to build trust. She is very submissive and will roll on her back for reassuring tummy rubs. She prefers to eat in or near her crate- away from the other dogs. She is not food motivated and is just learning about treats and toys. She is just starting to come out of her shell and share some of her goofiness with us. She is going to make a wonderful companion once settled into her new family home. Health history:  Grace is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccinations, and on monthly heartworm prevention. She is a healthy girl! Her next leishmaniasis test is due in December 2026. Foster comments:  Grace is a very sweet, timid girl, who will need a patient home to allow her to adjust at her own pace and come out of her shell and show her personality. She is not a good fit for a home with young children or in a busy city environment. A physical fence in the yard is required to adopt her. Foster location: Kalamazoo, MI  Transport note: We are able to arrange volunteer transport to get dogs from their foster home to their adopter as long as the adopter and the foster are within a 1,000 mile radius of each other and the adopter is located in the USA.
