*COMING SOON! Hershey can`t go home until July 10th after his neuter, but can have visits until then!*Meet the adorable Hershey! This handsome boy is an English Springer Spaniel, but he may not be `typical` for his breed. Known for being great, social, family-friendly dogs, Hershey is a little bit different. While he certainly lives up to the affectionate, loyal nature these dogs are known for, he needs lots of time to build trust and confidence before the bonding begins!Hershey is very cautious around strangers, so he`s looking for an experienced home that is able to read body language, respect boundaries and advocate for him when meeting new people. Once you`re part of his circle, you`re in for life! He quickly and easily recognizes his friends, and greets them with full-body wags, even if it`s been a while. You`ll know you`re a trusted person when he leans into you and nudges your hand for the first time! Walks are one of his favourite bonding activities, and while he may pull a bit at the beginning, he will fall into an easy, loose-leash trot beside you once his initial excitement has worn off. Due to his dog reactivity, Hershey would do best as the only dog in the home, and any introductions to small animals should be slow and carefully managed as he has not lived with them before. Because of his fear-based behaviours, he`s looking for a home with teens aged 15+ and will need to wear a muzzle for veterinary visits. With consistency, positive reinforcement, and plenty of love, we are hopeful that Hershey can slowly overcome his fears!
