Story
Hi, I adopted George on May 25, 2022 from the Animal Protection Society of Durham (North Carolina). George will be 5 on May 21, 2024. We moved to New Jersey in December of 2022. I am looking to find George a new home due to a pregnancy. George is overall a good boy, however when se sees other dogs and will bark and get overexcited, which requires me to use a lot of strength to move him along since he is heavy. This is typically not an issue and I can whisk him away in seconds, however, I do not want to risk overstraining myself on walks as my pregnancy progresses. He is 88 pounds and fully house trained. He has only has two incidents inside (when I first got him) when he had a stomach bug and from wet dog food. He is 100% people friendly (small children included) and has never shown any aggression towards any human. I would describe George as a happy, loving, sometimes very lazy dog (but he loves his walks). He loves naps and loves to follow me around.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Shayna! She has a wonderful and loyal personality, is housetrained, crate trained, great on a leash, and well behaved. She adores long walks, and will be happy to accompany you on any length hike! She has just come from a 5 week board-and-train with Beau's K-9 Academy and is ready to meet you! Shayna requires experienced canine owners who will continue to adhere to the training and structure she has learned, and commit to continued training with Beau's as you get to know each other (these training sessions are included with her adoption). Adults only, and she will need to be the only pet in your quiet home. Story
Nashville is looking for a new owner without children or other pets, who is willing to create a consistent, safe space in exchange for a loyal, sweet friend. Nashville is a 7-year-old English Springer Spaniel. We adopted him as a puppy from a local breeder. He is a smart dog, who knows more than 10 commands (including sit, down, off, and stay). He loves to play fetch; the perfect owner would have time and space to play. He is a big snuggler around those he loves and enjoys cuddling in bed (although he is crate trained!). He has no health issues and has had consistent heartworm/flea/tick prevention. Nashville is fearful/anxious when meeting new people or animals and he has nipped people's hands when approached. Training has been helpful to prevent nipping, but he is still afraid of our toddler. We're heartbroken to rehome our fur baby, but we believe Nashville would thrive with a patient, loving owner who has experience with anxious dogs.

These ladies are 12 week old English Springer Spaniel mixes who were saved from a commercial breeding facility in Lancaster county due not being sold quickly enough. Sadly, this happens all the time due to the alarmingly high amount of dogs that puppy mills are constantly producing. It is simply easier for them to give the older puppies up as they don't care how much they use and abuse their breeding mothers, making them produce litter after litter. These sweethearts are understandably shy and nervous at first, but are doing a great job learning to trust new people! As with all dogs we save from puppy mills, they will need a family who is understanding and prepared to work through a period of transition with them as they learn to live in a house and around people. They will need time to trust their new family before working on training, such as house training. This should go without saying, but we require all our animals to be trained using positive reinforcement methods ONLY. Puppy mill dogs tend to do best in a home without young children as well (10+), though this determination is made on a case by case basis. These are high energy hunting breed dogs and will require a very active family up to the task of providing them the ample physical and mental exercise they require.
