Story
Otis is a handsome 4 year old Goldendoodle Mix with a gentle heart who is searching for a new home and family that will give him the love, patience, and understanding any good dog deserves. He came to our shelter after his previous owners surrendered him, realizing they weren`t able to provide Otis with the time, attention, exercise, and enrichment that every dog needs to thrive. Now Mr. Otis is ready to find a forever home where he can truly be part of the family! Like many Doodle-type mixed breeds, Otis is a very sensitive soul who prefers to take life at his own pace. He`s the kind of dog who likes to observe the world before jumping in, and he may need a little time to feel comfortable with new people and unfamiliar places. Once you`ve earned his trust though, you`ll discover a sweet, affectionate, and wonderfully goofy companion who loves being close to his people. Otis enjoys a good romp in the yard, LOVES to play fetch, and is happy soaking up the sun! He is going to be a great hiking buddy for his new humans as he loves to be outside and exploring. Otis is a happy boy with a calm demeanor who enjoys just hanging out with his humans and being near them. Otis will need his future home to be an adult only household, as he has lived with children in the past and is ready to put his babysitting career behind him. Otis prefers to spend his time with calm and mature humans who understand boundaries and respecting personal space, who can blame him? We were told that when Otis was younger, he was attacked by an off-leash dog. Since that traumatic experience, he`s understandably protective of his personal space and can be wary of other dogs. He is happy to walk around the neighborhood and ignore any other dogs passing by and he can easily coexist with them at a comfortable distance, but he doesn`t enjoy dogs getting up close and personal. We believe Otis would likely be happiest as the only dog in his new home, where he can soak up all the love and attention without having to share the spotlight. Sweet Otis has struggled with a history of allergies and ear infections in the past. This may be part of the reason he can be so protective over his personal space, as no one wants to be messed with when they don`t feel good. Since he has arrived at our shelter, Otis is both looking and feeling good! We have no concerns about his ears at this time, but knowing that this has been a recurring issue for him in the past, it is worth notin
