Story
This special boy is Archie, born May 2021.  He is friendly with all things canine, feline and human (all ages).  The perfect home for Archie is where is he has lots of access to the outdoors.  He loves exploring and being active.  A fenced yard would be a great place for him to stretch his legs and wander around on his own. Archie is not that great on a leash, so walking with him is not the easiest activity because he tends to pull.  If you're willing to offer some leash training, bonus points for you! Archie is house trained, crate trained and knows some commands.  He does have a quirky side and if you're looking for a canine friend that will alert you to nearly everything, Archie is your boy.  He just seems to like the sound of his voice or maybe he's anxious sometimes - it's hard to tell.  (He is currently on medication that helps some.)  Other than that, he's very well behaved. We know there's someone out there that doesn't mind a dog with vocal capabilities!  :)  The suggested adoption donation for Archie is $350, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training).  Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals. In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $399,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Please Note:  A Courtesy Post designates that an animal is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster. This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we are only assisting the owner in finding a new home for their pet. From time to time, owners find a new furever home for their pets outside of Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue and there is a delay in removing them from our site. We apologize if the Courtesy Post you apply to adopt is unavailable for adoption. Information about the adoption process:  All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note:  We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months. To learn about Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue or donate to our animals, please visit our website at MuddyPawsSecondChanceRescue.com or our Facebook Page Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue Inc.   If the dog or cat you adopt is older than 6 months of age and not spayed or neutered, you will receive a voucher to alter the pet at Val Verde Animal Hospital in Omaha, at no cost to you.  Or you can alter the pet at your own vet and be reimbursed $100 for dogs, and $50 for cats, of total cost.  If the dog or cat is younger than 6 months of age, adopter will be responsible for the cost of altering the pet at the vet of their choice.  If proof of alter is received by Muddy Paws prior to the pet turning 6 months of age, a reimbursement of $100 for dogs and $50 for cats, will be sent to you to help cover expenses.  [Muddy Paws can also suggest a vet with a reduced cost for alters.]  All puppies and kittens MUST be spayed or neutered by 6 months of age.  All dogs and cats MUST be spayed or neutered no later than one month after adoption is finalized.  Thank you in advance for your compliance. ##2576757##

Story
Georgia is a very sweet English Setter mix, born August 2023.  Her dream job is couch surfing with her human besties.  Back-up dream job would be the sniffing queen of her environment.  Here are a few things we know about Georgia: She utterly craves being around those who show her kindness. Some pups demand interaction, but our sweet Georgia girl would be happy as can be to sit next to you on the couch, walking politely around a lake or park. Georgia has an A+ nose detection system and would love to demo it for you on a nature walk. Georgia is heartworm positive and has started the pre-meds before the injection treatments can be completed.  Her optimal recovery zone has 1 or 2 people focused on just her (though she can share her people well).  Her people need to be home bodies (work from home or not gone long hours of the day).  Too many episodes of loss prior to reaching our care has made her extremely anxious with separation. She needs a friend to be by her side as heartworms are destroyed to love on her and keep her calm.  Georgia has been doing well overall with most dogs, but she'll need to find the doggie zen zone that works for her so she can have the best chance of success. Georgia is potty trained, gentle, walks well on leash and would LOVE nothing more than to be your new best buddy. If you're on board to be her support team, she is 4-paws in to be your support as well!!   Georgia came from a situation where she was living with many other dogs.  She was going to be euthanized just because she was pregnant and someone agreed to take her in.  It might take her just a little bit to adjust to a family that only has 1 or 2 other dogs!  She also loves cats and kids.  Because of her severe separation anxiety, she doesn't like to be kenneled because that means she would be away from you.  She will need help with kennel training because she can be destructive if left out.  This girl is also an escape artist, so you will need to make sure windows are not open and she can't sneak out anywhere. Her new people will need to be willing to work with her regarding her separation anxiety.  We would really like to find Georgia a special home where she gets lots of love!  She currently takes Ambien to help her sleep at night.  We anticipate the amount of medication she takes now will decrease over time as she settles in at her new place. Georgia gave birth to 8 puppies in June 2025.  Her puppies each found their own homes. Now it's time to find Georgia her own home! Adoptions for Georgia are limited to the area within 50 miles of Omaha so that she can continue to take advantage of free training from our certified positive reinforcement trainers. The suggested adoption donation for Georgia is $400, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training).  Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. Story
Hey guys, I'm Andy Oakley! I'm a Golden Retriever mix, born 7/11/2020.  People tell me I'm an amazing dog!  I am very well mannered in the home and completely potty trained.  I love going for walks and LOVE hanging out with my person.  Even though I like other animals, I would prefer to be the only dog, but I wouldn't mind sharing my home with a nice cat or two.  I'm open to having some older kids (age 12+) in my new home because they will be able to understand if I want some love and attention or if I need a little alone time.  My new people should know I don't always enjoy being petted or too close, but I'll let you know when I'm ready for that! Andy Oakley does take time to warm up and trust people, and he has been known to guard food on occasion.  He would be happy to have his own personal space for meals.  So because of this, we recommend the adopter work with one of our free trainers for a session or two.  The suggested adoption donation for Andy Oakley is $265.  Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization which means that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission.
