Ace is a 2 year old Old English Sheepdog / Poodle mix weighing 85 lbs, and he is a sweet, goofy boy who is more than ready to experience the comforts of home life. He was relinquished to a shelter in New Mexico because his small, elderly owner was not able to care for him / walk him once he grew into such a large dog. After living outside half of the time in his previous home, Ace is finally ready to be loved, spoiled, and tucked in somewhere warm.
Ace is wonderfully socialized with people and other dogs! He does great with both big and small dogs and has previously lived with a small dog. He would thrive in a home with a yard to explore and another friendly dog to help show him the ropes. He enjoys car rides, loves toys, and brings a joyful, playful energy without being over the top. His energy level is low to medium, making him a great balance of fun and relaxation.
This handsome boy is food motivated, walks well on leash, and knows how to sit. He is also non destructive in the home and has shown himself to be a very good boy who wants to do the right thing.
Ace will need regular grooming to keep his beautiful coat in tip top shape.
Ace adores people and is dreaming of his own fluffy bed, cozy naps, and a life where he will never have to sleep in the elements again. He has so much love to give and is ready for a family who will cherish him and help him settle into the life he has always deserved.
Since Ace is so young, he is a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show him the way. With positive reinforcement training, he has all the potential in the world to be a loyal, well-mannered adult companion. He’ll thrive with virtual or in-person force-free training classes, which will help strengthen his bond with his humans and build him confidence.
Ace is up to date on his vetting, vaccinations, and is neutered. He has been tested for heartworm and is negative and in good health!
Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial.
Farfel's Rescue has been doing adoptions this way since 2005 and is thrilled to adopt out ~400 dogs each year.
