He came into the shelter full of hope — a playful, happy, goofy boy who believed every new face was a friend. And despite all the time that’s passed, he still greets each day with that same tail-wagging optimism. Smokey is pure joy in dog form. He loves to run, play, explore, and share his contagious enthusiasm with everyone he meets. He’s wonderfully social with other big dogs and would thrive in a home where he can romp with a buddy or join you on outdoor adventures. No cats though for him. Hiking? Jogging? Weekend road trips? Smokey’s answer is always yes. But for all his fun-loving energy, he’s equally loving and gentle. After playtime, he settles right in for snuggles, leaning into you with the kind of trust that makes you wonder how such a sweet boy has been overlooked for so long. Smokey has spent far longer in the shelter than any dog should.
