Story
Meet Annie! 🐾 Foster-to-Adopt | Hampton Roads, VA 3-Year-Old Old English Sheepdog | 65 lbs | Loyal, Lively, and Looking for Her People 💖 Annie is a 65-lb, 3-year-old Old English Sheepdog with a heart as big as her fluff! 🌟 She’s affectionate, people-focused, playful, and smart. Annie thrives on human connection and needs a home where she’s not left alone for long periods. She is not a background dog—she’s your co-pilot, your shadow, and your bath-time assistant (yes, she’ll literally jump in the tub on her own if she thinks she needs a scrub!). 🚿 She loves the water, is highly trainable, and responds beautifully to both affection and food. 🍖 She has no hearing or vision issues, and she’s now spayed, vaccinated, and ready for the right person or family to fall in love. 💙 Annie’s Ideal Home Has: ✅ A securely fenced-in yard → Must be a solid privacy fence, no less than 5 ft tall. No exceptions. 🏡 ✅ A remote worker or stay-at-home adult → Annie needs companionship and will not do well in a home where she’s left alone all day. 🧑‍💻 ✅ Children 8 and up → Annie is gentle but large, bouncy, and stronger than many small children. 👧🧑 ✅ A young, large, active dog companion → Annie plays rough and needs a sturdy playmate. Small dogs (under 35 lbs) are not safe companions. 🐕 ✅ No cats or prey animals → Aquarium pets are fine, but no chickens, flying squirrels, ferrets, or similar animals. 🐟 ✅ An active, outdoorsy lifestyle → Annie is not a "let her out to potty" dog. She needs structured exercise like hikes, trail walks, and outdoor time rain or shine. 🌳🏞️ ✅ Physically capable adult(s) → Annie is incredibly strong. When she’s excited, she can pull with over 250 pounds of force. That means she needs an adult who is not only experienced with large, strong dogs, but can safely handle her strength on-leash. 💪 ✅ A long-term plan → Annie is only 3 years old and will need consistent physical activity and training for many years to come. ⏳ Not a Fit For: ❌ Sedentary homes or people who consider brunch, cruise ships, or indoor hobbies as “active” 🍽️🚢 ❌ Families with young children or those physically smaller than Annie 👶 ❌ Households with only elderly dogs or small breeds 🐩 ❌ Apartments, homes without secure fencing, or properties with chickens or livestock 🏢🐔 ❌ Bike riders looking for a dog to run alongside—Annie’s pace is not bike-suitable 🚲 ❌ People who do not currently involve their dog in daily activities 🚶‍♀️ ❌ Those unable to demonstrate a lifestyle that regularly includes outdoor physical activity 🏃‍♂️ Active and Attuned: Annie is happiest with people who enjoy nature, hiking, and spending quality time outside. 🌲 She is also emotionally in tune and enjoys being part of your everyday adventures. 🥾 She would be a perfect match for someone who enjoys long walks, exploring new trails, and wants a true partner—not just a pet. 💕 Adoption Process: Annie’s adoption will require a working interview—usually a hike at a local state park. 🏞️ We want you to meet the real Annie, not the nap-time version. 😴 This girl is joyful, social, and needs structure, stimulation, and movement. She’s not a plug-and-play couch dog—she’s a lifestyle match. 🐕 Where & How to Apply: We are seeking a Foster-to-Adopt home in Hampton Roads, VA, but will consider approved adopters within a 6-hour drive of Virginia Beach. 🚗 We will also consider direct referrals from New England Old English Sheepdog Rescue. All adopters must travel to meet her—no transports. Apply now at: www.coastalsheltierescue.org Annie is joyful, goofy, loyal, and ready to find a forever home that doesn’t just love dogs—they live for them. 🐾💙 #RescueAndRejoice #AdoptAnnie #OldEnglishSheepdog #VelcroDog #AdventureDog #FosterToAdopt #StrongDog #notforbeginners
