Righteous Paws Rescue Dog rescue in Austin, TX

We are a rescue, formed in the midst of Hurricane Harvey by volunteers that were on the ground rescuing animals. We pull from high kill shelters and pull the breeds that are over looked, like the Bully breeds. We are also in process of standing up a transport bus, to help other rescues and shelters transport animals. Our 501c3 is also in progress.

RIGHTEOUS PAWS RESCUE POLICIES AND AGREEMENT (Foster/Adoption)

To apply to become an approved foster or adopter please email: righteouspawsrescue@gmail.com for the application. The process for approval could take up to 2 weeks although we will try to get done faster especially in urgent situations. Once approved we will notify you.
Minimum Requirements for Fostering/Adopting:
Minimum requirements for medical care include basic health annual exam, annual vaccinations, including rabies, de-worming, and heartworm check. Animals must be on heartworm preventive medicine if living in a region where needed. Adopters/fosters will be given a full disclosure of any health issues we know about including vaccines or heartworm treatment. Please keep in mind that most of our animals come from shelters so we cannot guarantee the health of the animal. If there are medical records, we will be giving adopters or fosters copies of needed documents.
Animals must be kept clean and parasite free. All animals will be contained in a safe, secure, appropriate and humane manner. Animals will not be allowed to run loose with access to public sidewalks or streets at any time. Must be on leash if in public or on streets and puppies not to be allowed out in public until all vaccines have been given including rabies, parvo, kennel cough and flu. Do not take pets to dog parks as there are many diseases there especially if dogs not fully vaccinated for all strains of flu. Also, there are often dangerous situations at dog parks and they are best avoided.
Diets will consist of healthy, nourishing, and quality food appropriate to the age and condition of the animal. Fresh food and water must be given daily and in sufficient amounts to assure animal health and well-being and must be stored in a sanitary manner.
Fresh water will be provided daily and in a sanitary manner and in sufficient amounts and all animals will have access to fresh water at all times.
Animals will be altered when old enough and before or right after adoption. Animals will not be bred or allowed to breed for any reason.
Fosters/adopters will be given any information about temperament, but we cannot guarantee to know the animal’s temperament as many of the animals come from shelters and may have come from abusive situations. Foster/Adopters must take care to introduce pets the correct way, slowly and to not leave new pets unattended with other animals. If training is needed that is the responsibility of the adopter and Righteous Paws expects adopter to professionally train the animal if needed so the animal integrates into the household.
Animals will not be abused or treated cruelly, subject to any experiments, or neglected.
The animal will not be used to fight or in any attack or guard dog positions.
If foster or adopter no longer wishes to keep an animal, he/she must notify Righteous Paws Rescue. Animals are not to be given to shelters or pounds. Animals are to be returned to Righteous Paws Rescue.
Animals will not be transferred, lent, sold, or adopted out by foster/adopter. In some cases, animal many be adopted out IF AND ONLY IF adoption is approved by Righteous Paws Rescue. Righteous Paws must be contacted for the above.
All medical records will be given by the foster to the Righteous Paws Rescue so that Righteous Paws Rescue may keep the original shelter up to date on records as required by the shelter. This is a requirement Righteous Paws has with the original shelter, so we need assistance and cooperation by foster. Adopters must keep any medical records for the animal on file so medical history can be tracked if needed later. Also, adopters agree to chip their animal if animal is not chipped, and register the chip to their address and keep up the address changes. This is very important as we have found that the chip helps if an animal is ever lost. While we don’t expect an animal to be lost, a chip is just another way to help ensure the safety of the animal.
Righteous Paws Rescue Adoption Fee for K9 is $150.00 (includes: Wellness visit and Exam, Spay/Neuter, Bordetella, DHPP, HW Occult, Rabies Vaccination and deworming, 1-month heartworm, flea & tick prevention, collar and ID tag). Furthermore:
I understand that Righteous Paws Rescue does not guarantee this animal in any way as to health, performance, behavior, or bloodline. Righteous Paws Rescue is unaware of the medical, genetic, or behavioral history of the animal. It is possible that an animal could be incubating an illness or disease and vaccines may not protect them.

Rescue Animals should be seen by a veterinarian as soon as possible. Righteous Paws Rescue will give the foster/adopter any funds received (if any funds remain) for the animal in pledges or other after transport or medical expenses are paid to help offset any further costs, but will not be responsible for further veterinary or other expenses regardless of any illness which pets may have, or current pets contract from the rescued pet.

I agree all foster or adopted animals will be spayed and neutered prior to finalizing adoption and if an animal is not spayed/neutered before adoption because of age or health, it will be sterilized as soon as that becomes possible for the animal.

I hereby certify that any foster or adopter information provided to Righteous Paws Rescue is true and correct.
