Akron Rescue Team's adoption process

1.

Submit Application

Please submit an ART adoption application.

2.

Approve Application

Once applicant is approved we will coordinate with ART foster and potential adopter a meet and greet. The meet and greet will be in Akron.

3.

Meet the Pet

ART dog will meet potential adopter as well as existing dog/s to ensure a good match. If yes, we will coordinate delivery to their new home.

4.

Home Check

We'ill deliver the ART dog to it's new home and do a basic home check. The dog will arrive with food, a leash, collar, toys and vet records.

5.

Pay Fee

We will collect the agreed upon adoption fee during the home check.

Additional adoption info

Every potential adopter will be scheduled to meet their desired new family member. ART dogs do not leave with adopters at this initial meeting. An ART representative will deliver the dog to it's new home and perform a basic home check upon arriving. An adoption contract will be signed and agreed adoption fee will be paid to Akron Rescue Team at this time. All dogs will arrive home with all current veterinary records, an escape proof martingale collar, 6 foot leash, a bag of food, toys and treats.

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
