Rescue FAQs

Little Mews is an all volunteer, non profit, 501(c)3, no-kill, animal rescue organization. We take in cats and kittens from a variety of situations, most are stray, unwanted, neglected or abused. We can also refer you to other organizations in the area that have dogs, cats and other animals for adoption and have information about low cost spay and neuter options.

All our cats and kittens who are ready for adoption have been checked by a vet, vaccinated for FVRCP, rabies (if over 4 months), tested for Feline Leukemia, FIV, wormed, and spayed/neutered if old enough. Any health conditions are treated so that the cats can be adopted as healthy as possible.

Our goal is to find safe, healthy, forever homes for cats and to promote spay/neuter so that the number of unwanted cats is lowered every year. We want each cat and kitten adopted to a home where it will live forever.

Adoption steps

  1. Submit Application
    1. We have a simple application to help match you with the perfect cat.
  2. Interview
    1. Just to answer any other questions we may have or help you with your adoption decision.
  3. Meet the Pet
    1. You may meet the cat at the foster home or we can sometimes bring the cat to your home.
  4. Approve Application
    1. Once you choose your kitty, and everything looks good, it will be ok to bring him/her home. Be patient, it might take a couple of days.
  5. Sign Adoption Contract
    1. There is always paperwork involved in adoption.
  6. Pay Fee
    1. Adoption fees help with expenses of caring for the cat while we have it.
  7. Take the Pet Home
    1. Congratulations on your new member of the family! We're here to help you through the adjustment.

Additional adoption info

We do not do same day adoptions, so please be patient while waiting for your new family member!
