Shelter FAQs

NCHS is a nonprofit organization aimed towards caring for and rehoming the lost, abandoned, & surrendered animals of our communities! Prior to the Humane Society's inception, all animals brought into the pound were euthanized if they were not claimed. Since our re-establishment in July of 2008, we have earned the Best Friends No Kill excellence award. Which is something we are proud of and aim to continue.

Additional adoption info

Depending on the animals and adopter's preference, we can set up times to meet the animals before doing the adoption application. We require references and make calls to those references prior to being approved.
