Rescue FAQs

Paws Across Pittsburgh is a 501(c)(3), foster based, non-profit animal rescue located in the Pgh area. Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome homeless, abused and/or unwanted dogs and cats.

We are run solely by volunteers with the goal of providing vet care, socialization skills and nutritional needs while living in a loving foster home. All animals that enter into the rescue will receive appropriate vet care, spay/neuter, vaccinations and preventative treatments.

Our goal is to assure a loving, forever home for each one of our animals. Paws Across Pittsburgh strongly believes in Force Free training methods for our animals.

Adoption steps

  1. Submit Application
    1. Everyone MUST submit an application to be considered for adoption
  2. Interview
    1. We will talk to you and your references to get a feel of what you're looking for in a pet and if the particular pet would be a good fit
  3. Home Check
    1. This is required. We want to see where the pet will be living and it gives us an opportunity to meet you!
  4. Meet the Pet
    1. A meet and greet will be arranged after you have been approved as an applicant
  5. Pay Fee
    1. See website for adoption fees
  6. Sign Adoption Contract
    1. We require that an adoption contract is signed by the main owner of the pet
  7. Take the Pet Home
