Kane County Animal Control oversees rabies registration, protects public safety and ensures the humane care of animals through sheltering, pet placement, education and animal law enforcement.

Adoption steps

  1. Submit Application
    1. Applications can be found on our website under the fees tab and submitted via email, fax, or in person.
  2. Meet the Pet
    1. A kennel assistant will take you to meet your new furry friend. All dogs require meetings with dogs already in your home.
  3. Approve Application
    1. While you are meeting the animals, the front desk staff will be looking through your application. They may need additional information after
  4. Pay Fee
    1. Once you application is approved, all that is left is to pay the adoption fee! Adoption fees for all species can be found on our website.
  5. Take the Pet Home
    1. All animals are ready to go home the day you visit with them. We hope you love your new best friend as much as we do!

Additional adoption info

* All adoptions are first-come first-serve to ensure fairness to everyone that adopts from us.
* All adoptions require completion and approval of an Adoption Application.
* You will need a current driver’s license or photo ID to adopt an animal.
* If you are a renter, bring a copy of your lease which indicates you are permitted to own pets at your address.
* If you have owned pets in the past, bring copies of your medical records for previous animals. If you have lost your pets’ medical records, contact your veterinarian for replacement copies.
* Finally, all people who will be living with the animal will have to come in to meet it, and agree to the adoption.
