Kane County Animal Control oversees rabies registration, protects public safety and ensures the humane care of animals through sheltering, pet placement, education and animal law enforcement.

Adoption steps
- Submit Application
- Applications can be found on our website under the fees tab and submitted via email, fax, or in person.
- Meet the Pet
- A kennel assistant will take you to meet your new furry friend. All dogs require meetings with dogs already in your home.
- Approve Application
- While you are meeting the animals, the front desk staff will be looking through your application. They may need additional information after
- Pay Fee
- Once you application is approved, all that is left is to pay the adoption fee! Adoption fees for all species can be found on our website.
- Take the Pet Home
- All animals are ready to go home the day you visit with them. We hope you love your new best friend as much as we do!
Additional adoption info
* All adoptions are first-come first-serve to ensure fairness to everyone that adopts from us.
* All adoptions require completion and approval of an Adoption Application.
* You will need a current driver’s license or photo ID to adopt an animal.
* If you are a renter, bring a copy of your lease which indicates you are permitted to own pets at your address.
* If you have owned pets in the past, bring copies of your medical records for previous animals. If you have lost your pets’ medical records, contact your veterinarian for replacement copies.
* Finally, all people who will be living with the animal will have to come in to meet it, and agree to the adoption.
