Rescue FAQs

Sammy's Strays is a small rescue group in Northern Westchester County NY. We are a 501c3 non-profit. We rescue animals in need -- locally and from down South -- and find them loving homes. We are 100% foster based, relying on the care and kindness of our foster homes to keep us going.

Our rescue dogs and cats live in loving foster homes until they are adopted. We cover all necessary medical expenses until the date of adoption. All dogs/cats are spayed/neutered (if age appropriate); receive age appropriate vaccinations, deworming, heart worm prevention preventative, flea/tick prevention and a microchip.
Our adoption radius is 90 miles from Mid-Westchester County NY.

Adoption steps

  1. Submit Application
    1. Prior to any appointments to meet a pet, an application must be submitted and references must be checked.
  2. Approve Application
    1. You must submit an application on our website and be approved prior to any appointments being set up.
  3. Meet the Pet
    1. Once references are checked and we feel it's a good match, you will be contacted to meet the animal.

Additional adoption info

Sammy's Strays adoption radius is 90 miles from Westchester County, NY. Emails sent via Adopt a Pet application are not always monitored.
