About Paw-Some Small Critters Rescue Inc

Paw-Some Small Critters Rescue, Inc. is a non-profit, 501c3 tax-exempt, all-volunteer group of animal lovers. We saw the need in our area for a rescue that provided medical care, shelter, and love for the unwanted, homeless, neglected and needy critters of Brazoria County and beyond. From the smallest sugar gliders to the larger Kinkajou or BushBaby (aka galagos). We also of course take in Rabbits, Guinea Pigs, Hamsters, Ferrets, Parakeets, Parrots, Iguanas, Rats, Chinchillas etc. We provide critter teaching that can possibly help keep companion animals with their humans as often as possible. We also "pull" or take pets from numerous shelters, other organizations, rescues, and of course citizens from all over Texas. PSSCR has worked with other Rescue Groups, Humane Organizations and people in the private sector, to prevent these amazing animals from just being tossed away and forgotten. .. We screen all potential fosters and adopters. PSSCR also provides "critter cuddles". This is a program where a small group of size appropriate animals go off-site to either a school, day-care, or living facility and the animals get to interact with the people who are there. It is as beneficial to the critters as it is to the residents/students. Paw-Some Small Critters Rescue, Inc. provides these services and more through donations from individuals and businesses that believe in our cause. We also take larger breed dogs to schools/libraries and show children what to do when a strange or stray dog approaches. And in the worst case, decides to attack. We offer various mini-courses in the care and husbandry of critter care. So that you will know what you are getting into before you take on an exotic pet. This hopefully reduces the return of the animal. And we do not judge. If for whatever reason, they need to come back, they are always welcome.
Every Animal deserves the chance to leave pawprints on someone's heart.

Adopt a Pet is the easiest way for you to search for a new pet in Lake Jackson, TX.

Support adoption and rescue. Why go to a dog breeder, cat breeder or pet store to buy a dog or buy a cat when you can adopt?

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
