Rescue FAQs

San Diego Street Cat Society is a volunteer run organization, providing free advice and assistance trapping and managing community cats. Our goal is to fill the gap between the community and the shelter, especially during COVID when shelters and rescues are being stretched thin. While we mostly TNR feral cats, we occasionally find kittens or very social adults that would do best in loving homes. Our volunteers foster these cats until we can find their forever homes. Please visit our website to learn more about us! And find us on Instagram to follow our cats!

Adoption steps

  1. Submit Application
    1. Please fill out and submit an application if you are interested in one of our cats. Be as thorough as possible.
  2. Interview

  3. Meet the Pet
    1. We require that all potential adopters meet the cat before committing to adoption.
  4. Sign Adoption Contract
    1. If you decide a cat is right for you we will have you fill out a basic adoption contract and go over cat care information with you.
  5. Pay Fee
    1. We do ask for a fee for all our cats to help us recuperate the cost of their spay/neuter, vaccinations, flea/worm treatment, etc.
  6. Take the Pet Home
    1. We prefer to deliver the cat to you so we can do a brief walk through/home visit before leaving. All COVID safety protocols will be used.
