Salt Spring Cat Welfare Society is dedicated to improving the well-being of cats – both domesticated and feral – on Salt Spring Island, British Columbia. Our activities focus on the following four initiatives: Promoting the rescue and placement of stray or abandoned cats Establishing and supporting ‘Community Cat’ Colony programs through our TNRM Program Providing community-based education programs to enhance the understanding of issues faced by cats on our island Supporting our community members in searching for missing cats

If you are interested in learning more about on of our wonderful kittens or cats, please review the AM I READY TO ADOPT A CAT document. This document can be found on our website along with additional information about our adoption policies and our adoption application.

Thinking about and discussing this document head of time will ensure that you are ready to discuss your application with one of our adoption counselors. We will contact those whose applications have the potential to be the best match. A visit will be arranged for you to meet the pet and have the opportunity to ask any questions you have about the pet.
Ultimate adoption placements are determined on a best-fit basis rather than a first-come, first-served basis. Many factors are considered when making placement decisions. You will be notified of your application has been approved and arrangements can be made to pick up your pet.
