About Chicago Pet Rescue -PSP Harlem/Foster

Chicago Pet Rescue started with a vision by a local Edison Park resident in 2010. Elena started out as a foster home provider but decided to expand and help much more.

CPR is a 501c(3) non-profit, foster home and volunteer-based rescue, dedicated to rescuing homeless animals. We do not have a central "shelter" as most of our animals are placed in foster homes until forever homes can be found. Our goal is to rescue as many animals as we can safely manage through foster homes. We rescue dogs, puppies, cats, kittens, birds and other small animals.

There are literally hundreds of unwanted animals out there who are abandoned or lost each year who need a temporary place to stay. These animals need a special place where their confidence and self-esteem can be rekindled and they can feel loved again.

The results of placing an animal in a foster home versus leaving them in a cage for a long time is enormous as it is important that people can select a new companion in an environment where the true personality of the animal is visible! You can rest assured that any companion animal adopted from Chicago Pet Rescue has had the individualized love of a foster home or socialization of our many caring volunteers. When you adopt from us, your new pet will already have been used to a family environment or socialized with different people, allowing them to become a great family addition. This attention to detail is very important to anyone who wants to enjoy many years of bliss with their new pet!

Chicago Pet Rescue is an all volunteer run homeless animal rescue depending on donations from anyone wanting to help us help the animals. We are dedicated to matching our homeless pets with the right family. To be able to save animals we rely on our foster homes and volunteers. Our animals come with vaccinations up to current age, heartworm tested (if old enough), spayed or neutered (if old enough), and microchipped. We welcome you to look through our website and hope you will consider becoming involved in our cause, whether through donating, volunteering, or adopting! We hope to see you at one of our upcoming events!

Thank you for your time and support.

Adopt a Pet is the easiest way for you to search for a new pet in CHICAGO, IL.

Support adoption and rescue. Why go to a dog breeder, cat breeder or pet store to buy a dog or buy a cat when you can adopt?

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
