Purring Angels's adoption process

1.

Submit Application

We review applications first to save potential adopters and volunteers time. We do not allow declawing and some cats must be indoor-only.

2.

Meet the Pet

We are not an open cattery or shelter. We are 100% volunteer-operated so appointments are required. But we are very responsive.

3.

Interview

We can do phone or in-person interviews to accommodate potential adopters.

4.

Home Check

We reserve the right to do a home check if we feel we need more information or have reservations following the interview and application rev

5.

Approve Application

We do not discriminate on the basis of race, gender, sexual orientation, etc.

6.

Sign Adoption Contract

7.

Pay Fee

We charge a fee of $100/cat which helps defray some of the costs related to spay-neuter and vaccinations.

Additional adoption info

We endeavor to be candid with adopters and may decline their application if we don't think the cat and they would be a good fit. But we will also try to help them find a more suitable cat. We pride ourselves on not being judgmental and always being professional, courteous, and responsive.

About Purring Angels

Purring Angels is a cattery located in Bridgeton, NC. It was established in 2019 and is run today by a small handful of dedicated volunteers.

The Purring Angels cattery is a small housing facility for stray and feral cats who have been rescued by Purring Angels from the streets of New Bern and Bridgeton. Purring Angels rehabilitates and socializes those cats and kittens who can be adopted, but when adoption or placement in a safe barn home is not an option, Purring Angels becomes the cat’s permanent home.

Support adoption and rescue. Why go to a dog breeder, cat breeder or pet store to buy a dog or buy a cat when you can adopt?

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
