Additional adoption info

The initial step in the adoption process is to complete an adoption application and obtain full approval from our organization. We strongly recommend getting fully approved before specifically looking at individual dogs, as many of them are adopted quickly, especially puppies and small dogs.

Once you have submitted your application and the required pictures, our adoption coordinator will thoroughly review your responses, pictures, and videos. You can expect to hear back from us within 1-3 days.

If we determine that we can proceed with the adoption process, we'll schedule an interview with you via phone or Zoom. During the interview, we will address any questions we may have and explain our adoption procedures. By the end of the call, we will inform you if your application has been approved.

Upon approval, we will provide you with a copy of our adoption contract, your new pet's records, and any other necessary documents. Afterward, we will make arrangements for transportation, and within 1-2 weeks, your new furry family member will be on their way to join your loving home. (unless the dog is local, then we would arrange a meet and greet) We appreciate your interest in adopting from us and are excited to help you find your perfect match!

About Paws In Your Hands Rescue Inc

Paws In Your Hands is a recently established 501(c)3 (nonprofit) rescue organization based in New England, which operates without a shelter. Our mission is to assist homeless, abandoned, neglected, and surrendered dogs by providing them with care and placing them in foster homes until they find their forever families.

The majority of our dogs are located in Texas and were either surrendered by their owners or rescued from overcrowded local shelters. We take special care to evaluate our dogs and cats in our unique foster homes over a few weeks to determine their temperament and suitability for living with other animals and children. Our animals are current on all vaccinations and have been spayed or neutered. Our objective is to meet the needs of each animal and ensure they are placed in a loving forever home

Support adoption and rescue. Why go to a dog breeder, cat breeder or pet store to buy a dog or buy a cat when you can adopt?

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
