Adoption Policy

*If a dog/pup is listed, we are still accepting applications on him/her.

*We do not keep applications, "on file" if interested in a particular dog/pup please complete an application for that particular/dog/pup.

*We do not adopt on a first come, first serve basis, but based on what we feel is the best fit for the family and most importantly, the dog/pup. Our goal is to have the very best home for all of our dogs.

*Our dogs are in private foster homes waiting to be adopted.

*Due to limited foster space, we are unable to, "hold" an animal to be adopted at a later time.

*We welcome out of state adopters but please keep in mind that you would need to come to Mt. Pleasant, SC to meet and adopt our pets.

*We meet one on one with approved adopters.

*We do not host adoption events.

*We will not consider applications for those not able to meet/adopt on the upcoming Saturday, or at a time designated by the rescue. Meets/adoptions usually take place on Saturdays as we are all volunteers who work full time during the week.

*Adoption fees vary by animal and are listed in each individual posting.

*Our adoption process consists of an application, and reference checks. We do home visits when a reference check is not enough.

*You must be at least 21 years old to apply to adopt.

*Please fill out all application fields as accurately as possible.

***We will not process incomplete applications.***

**Meet and Greets are scheduled only with approved adopters.**

Please keep in mind that we do our best to make an educated guess as to the breeds of our rescued pets. In rescue we rarely see the parents of our dogs and puppies, and even when we do, they are usually mixed breeds as well.

Remember that every job at RSC is performed by a volunteer. We do our best to process applications in a timely manner. The number of dogs we have in our care and the number of applications we receive will influence our processing time.

***Due to the volume of applications received on certain dogs/pups only the adopter chosen for a particular dog/pup will receive an email response.***

About Rescued in SC

Our Mission

Rescued in SC is an all volunteer, foster based organization dedicated to helping all breeds of dogs in need.
Our dogs come in to rescue for many different reasons. Most were abandoned at high kill shelters. Regardless of their origins, our goal for every dog we have is the same: a safe, happy home where each dog is a well-loved member of the family.

Adopt a Pet is the easiest way for you to search for a new pet in Mt Pleasant, SC.

Support adoption and rescue. Why go to a dog breeder, cat breeder or pet store to buy a dog or buy a cat when you can adopt?

Why should you adopt?

Dog adoption and cat adoption saves lives. Adopt a dog or adopt a cat and you'll have a friend for life.

What is the difference between adopting a dog, adopting a cat, adopting a kitten or adopting a puppy versus getting dogs for sale, cats for sale, puppies for sale or kittens for sale from a dog breeder or a cat breeder?

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
