Second Wind Animal Guardians's adoption process

1.

Submit Application

The application can be found on our website and can be submitted directly from the website after filling out the required fields.

2.

Interview

Our interviews are performed as a video interview. Our interviews are typically 30-45minutes long.

3.

Home Check

After the interview, on the same call, if we feel that the candidate is qualified, we ask that they show us their home on the video call.

4.

Approve Application

We will consider if the dog's personality and needs meet the qualified adopter and if so, we will approve the application.

5.

Sign Adoption Contract

A reference check is performed at the same the contract is sent for the adopter to review and sign.

6.

Meet the Pet

Meet and greet is set up and if the meeting goes well, the adoption takes place the same day.

7.

Pay Fee

Before the pet is taken home and adopted, the fee is paid to us either by check or electronically.

Additional adoption info

We require the adopters to agree to our two week, three month and anniversary follow-up and to respond to our inquiries upon request.

Second Wind Animal Guardians is a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit organization. Our organization was founded by a group of volunteers, that have made it their life goal to help support dogs in need. We are run 100% on donations, volunteers and depend on them to continue our mission. Our rescue efforts have no bounds and in addition to our local rescue efforts, we also focus internationally. Through our special international rescue program, we bring dogs in desperate situations from overseas to foster them in the United States so that we may find these sweet gentle friends suitable homes. We perform extensive measures to make sure that we place the right dog in the right home so that they too can live the American Dream.

When someone is breeding puppies or breeding kittens, they are creating new dogs and cats who need homes. Some people are interested in a very specific breed of dog, cat, puppy or kitten and they think the only way to find that specific breed is to buy a dog for sale or buy a cat for sale from a puppy breeder or a kitten breeder. Yet animal shelters are filled with dogs and cats who must find homes.

So rather than buying a dog or puppy for sale from a dog breeder or buying a cat or kitten for sale from a cat breeder, we encourage people to adopt a dog, adopt a cat, adopt a puppy or adopt a kitten at their local animal shelter, SPCA, humane society or pet rescue group.
