Shelter FAQs

The vision for Midlands Humane Society began in 2006 when a dedicated group of animal lovers wanted to do better for the homeless, stray, and unwanted pets in our community. MHS opened the doors in 2015 and have since been supporting the animals and their humans within our jurisdiction of Pottawattamie County, Iowa. Midlands Humane Society takes great pride in helping animals get to the point where they will live their best life. Top-notch care and enrichment activities, paired with high-quality food and necessary medical care and vaccines, animals that arrive at MHS are set up for success. With 200+ animals in our care each day, MHS is extremely appreciative of the support of our community via adoption, volunteering, donating, and spreading the word of the MHS mission.
