Grant County Humane Society

Grant County Humane Society was founded on April 13, 1998 by a group of caring individuals who saw the need to provide a safe place for homeless and lost animals to reside until new homes were found or their owners reclaimed them. For the first 9 years, animals were placed in various foster homes until adopted or reclaimed. ​In 2007, a large monetary donation from Joan Fjoslien, along with several business and individual contributions, helped GCHS reach their goal for a building fund and allowed for the purchase of a building on the east side of Elbow Lake where animals could be housed. Joan and her husband, Dave, lived and farmed south of Brandon from 1996 until Dave’s death in 2004. Both had a lifelong love of animals, especially dogs. In Joan’s words, “Dogs were special to us, and it gives me a good feeling to know that they will be well cared for in the new Grant County Humane Society building.” GCHS is forever grateful to Joan Fjoslien for her generous contribution. GCHS is a tax-deductible 501(c)(3) non-profit organization funded entirely by memberships, donations, grants, fundraisers, and adoption fees. We are a no-kill animal shelter.
