Rescue FAQs

All About the Dogs Rescue is a small rescue started by a group of experienced, dedicated rescuers who realized we can do more to help together than we could individually. We may be small, but we're mighty and are dedicated to helping as many dogs as we can. We don't just take easy dogs. We have helped dogs with medical conditions that have required substantial treatment, and dogs that need training to become the best versions of themselves. We work hard to take care of all of our dogs medical and training needs prior to adoption. Our goal is to make sure they have much happier futures than they have pasts, and that they and their new family mesh into a terrific new family unit.

As a small, fairly new rescue, we're still building our team! We always need fosters and volunteers. Please apply to join with us - the more fosters and volunteers we have, the more we can do to help!

As a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, we can only do what we do for the dogs because of generous donors. If you can donate to help us help them, we'd be so grateful!
Connecticut state-wide - all cities and counties.

Adoption steps

  1. Submit Application
    1. All potential adopters must submit an application that includes all of the requested information. All questions must be answered.
  2. Interview
    1. We will call and talk with you about the adoption process, any questions we have, and the specific dog you're interested in adopting.
  3. Home Check
    1. We may do a video home visit in lieu of an in -person home visit, at our discretion.
  4. Approve Application
    1. Once references are checked and home visit complete the application can be approved dependent on meet and greet with specific dog.
  5. Meet the Pet
    1. Meet and greet required in order to ensure that family & dog are a good match for each other. Final adoption approval is contingent on this
  6. Sign Adoption Contract
    1. Once the meet and greet is completed, always at your home with your entire family, and adoption is approved, you then sign the contract.
  7. Pay Fee
    1. When the adoption contract is signed, payment of the adoption fee is made. Once you complete these 2 final steps, your new dog is home!
