Rescue FAQs

Paws and Claws (PAC) of Alleghany County, North Carolina, is a compassionate, community-based animal welfare organization dedicated to rescuing and improving the lives of dogs and cats in our community. We offer in-home fostering for rescues and provide support for community cats and dogs in need. Our mission is to provide services and support to improve the lives of dogs and cats in Alleghany County, NC, and our vision is to create a community where every pet has the chance to lead a healthy, happy life. We believe this can be achieved through four core principles: 1. Adoption and Rescue: We rescue and find loving homes for shelter animals, as well as those experiencing neglect or abuse, while educating the community on responsible pet ownership. 2. Community Connection: We support local pet owners with supplies, financial assistance, and educational resources on veterinary care, spay/neuter, and responsible pet ownership. 3. Support for Shelter Dogs and Cats: We enhance the adoption potential of shelter animals through enrichment, socialization, and partnerships, while educating the public on the importance of adoption. 4. TNVR (Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return): We reduce feral cat overpopulation through TNVR, ensuring healthy feline communities, and provide education on humane management and responsible cat care. Through partnerships with the local animal shelter, foster homes, and other rescue programs, PAC is working toward a future where every animal receives the care, love, and respect they deserve. Together with local supporters and animal lovers, we are striving to create a compassionate, life-saving community for cats and dogs in Alleghany County.
