Rescue FAQs

Despurate House Cats was founded to create a safe and welcoming environment where adoptable cats can find their forever homes. Based in New Milford, CT, it serves as a hub for animal rescue, advocacy, and community engagement. Our vision goes beyond rescue. We are on a mission to build a compassionate community, raise awareness about animal welfare, and advocate for critical initiatives like Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) to reduce the feral cat population. Our goal is to increase adoptions, provide a sanctuary for at-risk cats, and create opportunities for people to connect with animals while supporting meaningful change. Looking ahead, we are excited to share our future goal of opening a cat adoption lounge. This space will be more than just a place to meet adoptable cats—it will be a vibrant, cage-free environment designed to foster connections between people and animals. Our lounge will offer opportunities for community involvement, host events that celebrate and support rescue efforts, and provide an enriching, stress-free space for the cats in our care. This vision reflects our commitment to creating a meaningful and impactful experience for both our community and the animals we serve.
