Rescue FAQs

The Old Barn Cat Rescue is a small, family run, non-profit organization, located in Spokane, Washington, dedicated to saving as many kittens as possible. We believe that every kitten has a perfect home, and we are committed to finding that home, no matter what it takes. Every kitten we take in becomes a member of the family, who is spoiled with treats, toys, and endless love. We focus exclusively on helping pregnant females and orphaned and/or at risk kittens. We have experience with all kinds of situations, from mamas with newborns to abandoned litters. Every kitten presents a new challenge, but caring for them, and finding them their perfect home is an even greater reward!

Additional adoption info

All adoptions begin with potential adopters submitting an preliminary adoption application, which allows us to get an idea as to what you are looking for in a kitten/cat and if you may be a good fit for one of our kittens/cats. We do our best to respond to all adoption applications within 72 hours (if you have not heard from us by then, please reach out).

Once your preliminary adoption application has been approved, we will conduct a virtual home check to ensure that your home will be a comfortable and safe environment and will reach out to you with any relevant follow up questions. We, of course, welcome any and all questions from you, and provide plenty of info, pictures, and videos throughout the process.

Once all questions have been answered, we will offer you a final approval and, of course, a kitten/cat (or two!). We will then work together to arrange an adoption time! We are always available for any questions or assistance you may need after you take your new family member(s) home!

We start matching kittens to homes at 8-9 weeks of age, but do not adopt out kittens until they are 11+ weeks old, have been sterilized, received age appropriate vaccines, and are in good health. On that note, we are happy to reserve and hold kittens/cats for the right home, and do not offer same day adoptions.

Our adoption fee is $150 per cat/kitten or $200 for a pair. We strongly advise against single pet households.
