Additional adoption info
Here are the easy steps of how our Adoptions take place!
Step 1 - Adoptions begin with previewing photos of the pet that you are interested in. You can find our current pets on our Adopt A Pet Tab!
Step 2 - Click on the pet of your interest and follow the Apply Now button to complete your application.
Step 3 - A member of our staff will contact you to set up an appointment for you to meet the pet of your choice.
We require Rabies vaccine proof for any current pets living in the home.
Appointments are limited to 30 minutes so that we can serve others as well.
For pets that are not already spayed and neutered, you may place an adoption hold by paying half the adoption fee. The pet can be picked up, and the remaining fees paid, the day after surgery.
Cats must leave in a carrier and dogs must leave with a collar and leash.
IMPORTANT: The DeKalb Animal Shelter reserves the right to refuse adoption to anyone. No animal will be adopted to prospective owners who mislead or fail to provide accurate information on the application. All adoption fees and holds are nonrefundable.
