Rescue FAQs

Anna’s Angels Dog Rescue (AADR) is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to rescuing dogs of all breeds, ages, and backgrounds from high-risk situations and overcrowded shelters. Since 2017, we’ve worked to give dogs safety, care, and a second chance at life.Through transport, we’ve helped connect dogs with loving homes across the U.S. and Atlantic Canada. We are also passionate about providing education and resources to adopters and fosters to help ensure informed decisions, smooth transitions, and successful long-term matches for both people and dogs. Our goal is always the best possible outcome for every animal and every home involved!

*Our available dogs are primarily located in Texas. Dogs who are in Foster homes in Atlantic Canada are indicated with a 🇨🇦 icon.
We rescue dogs primarily from Southeast Texas, including Hardin, Jefferson, and Orange counties. From there, we transport dogs to approved adopters and foster homes across the United States and to Atlantic Canada.

Adoption steps

  1. Submit Application
Free to apply, and you are not locked into choosing one specific dog when you submit. Takes approximately 10-15 minutes to complete.
  2. Interview
We’ll connect to talk through what to expect and learn more about your home, ensuring you feel prepared, supported, and set up for success.
  3. Approve Application
Explore dogs with our team to ask questions and find the right match. Most dogs are in Texas; a 🇨🇦 icon indicates dogs located in Canada
  4. Sign Adoption Contract
Once you've found your match, you are sent an adoption contract and an invoice as well as a variety of helpful educational resources.
  5. Take the Pet Home
Transports from Texas are typically arranged once every 4-6 weeks. Dogs are transported from Texas to Canada with stops along the way.
  6. Meet the Pet
Note: Most dogs are in Texas. Local TX adopters can meet dogs; Canadian Adopters may meet & greet with dogs fostered in 🇨🇦 where available
