Shelter FAQs

The Carroll County Humane Society is a NO-KILL Animal Shelter in McKenzie, West Tennessee. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, with funding coming entirely from private contributions, fundraising and grants. We care for approximately 250 animals at one time in a building we've purchased and in foster homes. Our goal is to utilize Adoption and Spay/Neuter as our community's animal population control - not euthanasia. We hope to insure that all companion animals have a warm, safe, loving home and to assist and educate the public about proper pet care. We also give shelter to abused animals while assisting law enforcement to prosecute their abusers.
We serve Carroll, Henry, & Weakly counties in Tennessee for intake and low-cost spay/neuter. We adopt out to other surrounding counties of west Tennessee, western Kentucky, and beyond! We are a 501(c)3 non-profit and strive to reduce the unwanted pet population through spay/neuter and adoption.

Additional adoption info

Our adoption fee is $125.00 for dogs and $75 for cats and kittens. This includes the Spay/Neuter Surgery, Up-To-Date Immunizations, and Heartworm Test (for dogs over 6 months old) or Feline Leukemia/FIV Test (for cats).

We require an adoption contract be completed and signed and an interview with an adoption counselor.
**Note regarding phone calls: If you phone the shelter you will receive an answering machine. Just leave a clear message describing the reason for your call, your name and your daytime phone number. A volunteer will return your call as soon as possible. Please remember that we are all volunteers and it sometimes takes a little longer to get back with you.

You can donate on-line to help our resident dogs and cats by going to our home page www.cchspet.org and using the donate button on bottom left of page. We will be ever gratful.
