Additional adoption info
If you are interested in adopting one of my great dogs, the first step is filling out the adoption application. It can be found here: http://bellsouthpwp.net/d/i/dixiecoonhoundrescue/application.htm
After I recieve your application I will set up a telephone interview. The next step is checking your references, including your vet, and setting up a home visit. No adoption will be considered without a home visit.
My adoption fee is $150. I will talk to you about what you can expect from a coonhound and you will know everything I know about a particular dog - good and bad habits. I require a fenced in yard.
The last step before you can take your new baby home is the contract. You can read a copy of it here:
http://bellsouthpwp.net/d/i/dixiecoonhoundrescue/contract.htm
Please note that all dogs have to come back to me in the event you cannot or do not want to keep him/her any longer. This is non negotiable.
Please do not inquire about getting a dog for someone else. I will need to deal with the person the dog will live with and who will be the primary caretaker of that dog.
The dogs I have here are not hunting dogs. They are pets. If you're looking for a hunting companion, please look elsewhere. They are used to living in the house. If you intend to home the dog outside or in a pen, please do not contact me.
