Twin County Humane Society, Inc.

We are a fully incorporated, nonprofit, volunteer organization. We have no facilities of our own, but do foster as many animals as possible, which we pull from the local shelter or those rescued by an individual. Our main focus is on spay/neuter of companion animals. Funding is mainly through grants, yard sales, dog walks, Food Lion "Shop & Share", donations, and membership dues. Rescue FAQs

We are located in Hillsville, VA and serve Carroll County, Grayson County and the City of Galax. Also any surrounding areas. We do accept out-of-state applications but require approved applicants to come to our area with any current dogs to meet the potential new family member. We do not ship animals.

Additional adoption info

All dogs and cats are up-to-date on shots and are spayed or neutered before adoption. An adoption application and fee is required. The entire application must be completed in order to be considered. Incomplete applications will not be considered. It is essential that we have a name and phone number of your veterinarian that can verify that your current and/or past pets meet our policy requirements. It is the policy of Twin Co. Humane Society that your pets are spayed or neutered and current on all vaccines and are on heartworm preventative. A volunteer will contact you after reviewing your application
