Shelter FAQs

We may not be the largest shelter in the metropolitan area, but we're committed to being one of the best. Our team works tirelessly to serve the animals and residents of our community with compassion, dedication, and integrity. As part of the parish government, our Animal Control division holds a unique and vital role. We operate at the intersection of public safety, animal welfare, and community health. Our responsibilities include: Protecting Animals – We act as a humane organization, ensuring animals are treated with care, compassion, and respect. Enforcing Laws – We serve as a law enforcement agency, upholding ordinances that protect both animals and the people who care for them. Safeguarding Public Health – We work to prevent the spread of zoonotic diseases and ensure safe human-animal interactions throughout the parish. Every day, we strive to improve the lives of animals while strengthening the bonds between pets and people. It’s not just our job — it’s our mission.
