The leading cause of death for a dog or cat is birth. The only effective and permanent solution to uncontrolled breeding on the street is through spay and neuter intervention, thus reducing the stray population and high euthanasia rate in municipal shelters.

SNIP advocates on behalf of working (junkyard) dogs and bodega/deli (mousers) cats. SNIP provides spay/neuter/vaccines. In addition, SNIP participates in Trap/Neuter/Return of feral cats and spay/neuter for pit bulls. SNIP advocates on behalf of animals located within NYC's five boroughs - Brooklyn, Bronx, Manhattan, Queens, Staten Island.
