Rescue FAQs

PLEASE SPAY & NEUTER YOUR CATS & DOGS!
There will be many unwanted litters this spring and the rescues and shelters will not have room for all of them.

We are currently not accepting new cats or dogs.

* RE-HOMING YOUR PET *

We have always had a pet over-population problem, but now with more and more people losing their jobs and homes even beloved family pets are ending up in dog pounds and shelters. If you must re-home your pet, please remember these tips to help your pet find a safe place:

1) Start Early - as soon as you realize your pet needs a new home! Rescues and shelters are all full and it is very difficult to just "drop pets off" at a local shelter or rescue. Every animal that comes in may mean another one will die to make more room.

2) Use All Available Tools - the internet is great, but also run classified ads in your local newspaper and put up flyers around town on community bulletin boards. Here is a list of some of the bulletin boards in the Alliance area:

Kountry Korner of Maximo
Carnation Mall
Tractor Supply
Giant Eagle
Alliance Animal Hospital
Mount Union Mill
Tri-County Vet
Pet Supplies Plus
County Line Vet
Louisville Post Office

3) Use Photos - pictures are the key! Put them online and on your flyers. Make sure they are nice, clear, close-ups.

4) Vet Your Pet - this makes them more attractive to rescues and adopters, especially if they are spayed and neutered. You can ask an adoption fee to help cover the expense.

There is one dog pound and one humane society that have facilities in Stark County, but there are several volunteers attempting to save as many lives as possible. We can network online to help place pets, and a good photo, description, location, and contact info helps. Please email this information if you need help.

Additional adoption info

All cats have an adoption fee. All cats must have an inside home and be spayed or neutered before the age of 6 months, if they are not fixed prior to adoption. All cats must go home in a secure cat carrier.
