Shelter FAQs

Nicholas County

Additional adoption info

Our adoption fees are $20.00 for canines and $20.00 for felines. This includes their initial vaccination and worming and a discount on their spay or neuter at the local veterinarian. There is a written contract which the adopting owner must sign which requires that any animal which has not already been altered shall be spayed or neutered by a deadline set by the shelter. Our local veterinarian discounts the cost of surgery and mandatory rabies vaccination. Failure to do so will result in the animal being returned to the shelter.

We are very Rescue Friendly. We need all the help we can get, but there is some guidelines that are a must: 1) We are now asking for copies of your 501c3 non-profit license for our records and a copy of your adoption policies. 2) If any shots are given to the animals, we are asking for that money and we will do what you require prior to transport. 3) We will not hold an animal for a Rescue. If you want the animal and it gets adopted locally before transport can be arranged, we will adopt the animal out. We apologize but, this opens up more room for us. 4) We appreciate any and all help and would love to save all the animal's life through other no kill shelters. So feel free to ask and we will assist you.
