Rescue FAQs

Georgia Canine Rescue and Rehabilitation is an non-profit rescue that focuses on the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of shelter dogs. We are a very small rescue and are in the process of becoming 501 (c) licensed. We rescue animals in need, sometimes they have suffered a very neglectful life and have never known love. We make it our responsiblity to place them in homes where they will be given the life they deserve including: love, attention, understanding, training, patience, medical care, proper nourishment & housing and companionship. Therefore, we screen each applicant very throughly. Our adoption fees generally range from $120-$250 based on how much rehabilitation the dog requires while waiting to be adopted to a good home. If these things are acceptable to you then please visit our adoptables. Unforunately due to the high over-population of dogs in our area we only take owner surrenders in special case situations. All dogs undergo a brief temperment test, including dog-dog testing, socialization and general handling. We will not adopt out any dogs that show any human aggression and/or dog aggression. All dogs will be current on vaccinations, heartworm negative and spayed/neutered prior to adoption. Adoption fees do vary dependent on the medical care needed per pet. We adopt out all breeds of dogs and do have certain restrictions and guidelines for those interested in adopting any of the following: American Bulldogs, Am Staffs, American pit bull terriers, Rottis, Dobies, and any prodominent mixes. If you have questions about the guildlines please feel free to contact us at anytime @ pittieprotector@yahoo.com
GCRR is a non-profit rescue focusing on rescuing dogs from the local kill shelters. We try to focus our attention on the dogs in Cochran/Bleckley County and surrounding areas. We do however take dogs from other Georgia shelters.

Additional adoption info

All potential adopters will be required to do a meet and greet with the dog of interest prior to adoption. Potential adopters are required to fill out an adoption application. Once approved, adopters will be required to sign an adoption contract and pay the adoption fee. Certain breeds including American Bulldogs, Am. Staffs, Am. Pit bull terriers, Rotties, Dobies and prodominent breed mixes require a home visit and meet and greet with any of the adopters other pets and family members. Adoption fees vary based on the medical care needed
