Additional adoption info

Once you have determined that an Irish Setter is the right breed for you, and you've decided that you would like to adopt a Setter, you can begin the adoption process by completing and submitting our online adoption form. Be sure to complete the entire form.

After your completed adoption form is reviewed and approved we will contact you to discuss the dogs that are currently available for adoption. One of our local volunteers may be asked to inspect your home to insure that the environment is appropriate for the dog. Once we have found a suitable dog we can arrange for you to talk with the dog's foster family so you can find out more about him. Once it's decided that a dog is a good match, arrangements can be made for you to meet him and bring him home.

30 Day In-home Trial
All of our placements undergo a 30 day in-home trial. This gives both you and your new Setter a chance to see how you get along. During the 30 day trial we will contact you to see how things are going and assist you with any problems or questions that you may have. At any time during the 30 day trial you may return the dog, or we may wish to reclaim the dog from you. After successfully completing the 30 day trial we will send you an adoption contract releasing the dog to you.

Adoption Fee
Our cost to spay or neuter a dog, vaccinate him, and test or treat for heartworm can be several hundred dollars. We ask a donation each time a dog is placed. Donations vary depending on the circumstances or age of the dog that is adopted. The fees are due upon successfully completing the 30 day trial.

Returning Your Setter to Us
We ask that any Setter that is adopted from Rescue be returned to us in the event that you cannot keep it. We ask that you do not sell your Setter or give it away to a third party. If you can no longer provide a home for your Setter, please contact us immediately so we can arrange another adoption for your Setter.
