Shelter FAQs

Animal Shelters across the United States are full with deserving animals in need of homes. If you are considering adding a new pet to your household be sure and check with your local animal shelter. A second place to visit is 1-800-save-a-pet.com!

Please note that most animals entering Arenac County Animal Control are strays and very little background information is known about them. The only thing we can tell you about the animals are the traits and characteristics we observe while taking care of them. If the animal is owner relinquished, we may be able to provide additional information. We cannot make guarantees on health, housebreaking and if these animals will be good with children. Please use common sense when bringing your new pet home. Allow it time to acclimate to you and your family first before introducing it to other pets and people. Schedule a vet appointment and have the animal seen by your veterinarian as soon as possible.
