Rescue FAQs

Animatch is a non-profit, registered charitable organization that offers canine adoption services. We are proud members of the CAACQ (Companion Animal Adoption Group of Quebec). Animatch was founded by Helen Lacroix in 1999. Her grassroots movement started around her kitchen table. Today, Animatch boasts a well organized Centre, manned by Volunteers, with Helen as the Leader. All dogs are housed together at our centre where they are socialized with humans, dogs, and our resident cat. Animatch needs financial support to provide the basics (sterilization, vaccinations, medication, food) as well as the extras (harnesses, leashes, halties, toys). In addition, we need an emergency fund to cover unforeseen medical treatments (i.e. orthopedic surgery, amputation, kidney stones). Donations are always greatly appreciated.
Montreal area and suburbs, Quebec, Eastern Ontario, Vermont, N.Y. State. Areas within a 3-4 hours drive as long as potential adopter is willing to make the drive. We do NOT transport or ship dogs.

Additional adoption info

The first step in our adoption process is to complete the Adoption Form -- either at http://animatch.ca or at a Meet & Greet (see dates and locations on our website). When a potential match is found, an appointment will be scheduled for you to come to our Centre to meet the dog. Our adoption fee is $400.00 which includes vet exam, sterilization, vaccination, de-worming, an anti-flea treatment and microchip. All adopters are required to sign an Adoption Contract. Follow-ups are done after the adoption to ensure that the match is a success.
