Save A Mexican Mutt D/FW

Save A Mexican Mutt, or SAMM, was started in 2003 by Kelly and Jim Karger after they witnessed the needless suffering of homeless and neglected dogs on the streets of San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, Mexico. Then they found out that dogs and cats are euthanized by electrocution and drowning in nearly all parts of Mexico. Since its inception, over 500 dogs have been transported to their forever homes in the United States, Canada and some have been adopted locally. We work in conjunction with highly qualified and ethical "no-kill" rescue organizations and shelters in Texas, New Mexico and do direct adoptions. Prior to transport, all dogs are spayed or neutered, temperament tested, tested for heartworm, are current on their vaccinations, and arrive with a health certificate dated within three days of crossing the Mexico/U.S. border. SAMM has received approval from the IRS as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
