Shelter FAQs

Working in conjunction with humane officers, the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and rabies inspectors, the Animal Shelter impounds homeless and diseased animals.. We work very hard to find placement for as many animals as possible through our Placement Partner program with local and national rescue groups, and through public adoptions. We can be found on facebook.com/mcacshelter and on Instagram and Twitter @mcacshelter.
Mobile County Animal Shelter is responsible for the confiscation / impound of stray animals in the unincorporated areas of the county, as well as several of the smaller jurisdictions such as Chickasaw, Creola, Satsuma, and Eight Mile.

Additional adoption info

Adoption fees help offset the costs of caring and rehoming these animals, covering just 32 percent of the total. Fees are continuously adjusted depending on available sponsorship, grants, and economic inflation. The adoption fee will include a wormer, a one-year Rabies vaccination, the spay/neuter and a 5-in-1 vaccine for dogs (4-in-1 for cats).
Adoption Hours
Monday - Friday: 10:00am to 4:00pm
Saturdays: 10:00am to 2:00pm
