Shelter FAQs

We are the municipal animal shelter for the City of Owasso Animal Control. We service Owasso city limits only. Please note that there are only 3 Animal Control Officers for the entire City, and at times there is only 1. We are often out in the field handling calls during business hours. We recommend that you call before coming down to ensure someone is here.

Visiting the Shelter
You do not need to make an appointment to view our available animals. You can either stop by the animal shelter 500 S. MAIN ST during normal business hours Monday - Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (closed Saturdays and Sundays) to view the animals, or you can view the animals online. We do suggest that you call the animal shelter first to ensure that an officer is at the shelter, and not in the field. Persons under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Apply for Adoption
If you see an animal you are interested in, there is an adoption application and approval process. Once your application has been approved and the adoption fee has been paid, the animal will be scheduled for any veterinary services, including spaying or neutering. The entire process my be completed as quickly as a few hours if the animal is ready, or may take up to 3-4 days depending on the veterinary schedule. All adopted animals will be spayed or neutered before leaving the animal shelter.
