Shelter FAQs

We are a small rural animal shelter located in the Catskill Mountain Region. We serve 20 townships and care for over 250 cats and dogs on a daily basis while they wait for their forever homes. We are an open admission shelter that does not turn animals away from our service region. Our placement rate for dogs is over 90% and our placement rate for cats is over 80%. We also operate the PetSmart Cat Adoption Center in Kingston, New York.

Additional adoption info

We have a 2 page adoption application and requre veterinary references, personal references and a landlord reference and permission. Our adoption application can be downloaded from our website. We have a minimum 24 hour waiting period for any adoption and require that any pets adopted be spayed and neutered. We do adoption follow-ups for all our pets adopted. We do our very best to match the right home with the right pet and will counsel our adopters on the best choice of pet.
