Ray of Hope Humane Society

We are a very small Organization located in Hawthorne, Nevada. We serve the entire County of approximately 5,000 people who are mainly elderly, handicapped and low income. The nearest town to us is approximately 70 miles away (either Fallon or Yerington). Fallon is bigger in that it has a Wal Mart and several restaurants.

We do not have a Vet in Mineral County. Because of this we are required to go to another County for our Vet service. Dr. Lisa Hayden out of Yerington is who we typically use, but we have also used the Lahontan Valley Vet in Fallon.

We get a lot of critters from people driving through from Reno to Las Vegas or Vegas to Reno. The critters come from people who let them out to exercise and relieve themselves and the owners can't get their loved ones back. We also get a lot of critters from the elderly that end up in the hospital (this is where most of our critters come from). We of course get critters from the usual ways too.

Because the County needed help with the huge number of critters we were created and are trying to help. Along the way we have helped many humans and many more critters that so desperately need a human to voice their problems.
