The City of Pearland Animal Control and Adoption Center is the base of operations for the City of Pearland's Animal Control. The shelter accepts adoption applications from adults who wish to provide our pets with a new home, regardless of the adopter's city of permanent residence. You may also visit our city web page at www.cityofpearland.com

Our animal control officers are trained professionals who pick up loose and stray animals. Their duties include setting live traps, processing animal bite case and investigating cruelty. They also assist the public with any other animal issues. In addition to field duties, the officers assist with cleaning the shelter and providing care for impounded animals. Our staff prides itself on community education and is available to assist or speak at various community programs.

Important Things to Remember:
Do not pet unfamiliar animals
Do not tease animals
Do not surprise any animal
Do not touch a sleeping animal
Do not bother a dog while it is eating
Do not leave small children alone with a dog

Animal Bites:
1. Immediately wash wound with soap and water.
2. Check with your physician for treatment advice.
3. Report the bite to the Local Animal Control Agency.
Animal control personnel are trained professionals that can apprehend the biting animal and assure that it is placed into rabies quarantine.
4. Consult your physical or local/ state public health officials if questions arise about the need for rabies treatment.

Adoption steps

  1. Submit Application
    We do require an up-to-date rabies vaccine for all pets living in the home.
  2. Meet the Pet
    If you have a dog and are interested in adopting a dog you must do a meet and greet to be sure the animals, get along.
  3. Approve Application
    An ACO will call you to notify you that your application is approved.
  4. Take the Pet Home
    Once approved you will be able to take your pet home. There are currently no fees to adopt.
