Rescue FAQs

Healing Hearts Small Animal Rescue, Inc. is a 501 (c) (3) non profit organization. We are funded soley through donations and fund raisers. Our mission is to improve the lives of homeless, abandoned, neglected and abused animals through rescue and rehabilitation. We specialize in the rescue of small mammals (rats, guinea pigs, hamsters, etc), birds, reptiles, small exotics (sugar gliders, chinchillas, etc) and dogs under 25 lbs. If you need help rehoming your pet please contact us at healingheartrescue@yahoo.com When we place our animals an adoption contract is required to be signed by the adoptive family ensuring the future well being of their new family member. Healing Hearts Small Animal Rescue, Inc. also requires an adoption donation with each adoption to cover the cost involved in pulling, vetting, maintaining and placing these pets. Some adoption donations may be higher than others due to heartworm treatment and/or other medically necessary treatments the animal requires. In order to continue our rescue efforts, we must recoup this investment in our adoption donations. We list as much information as we have about each pet we list. We do not know how big puppies will grow to be in adulthood. Please research the dog breed we have listed to see if that particular breed may be right for you and your family. Two members of our staff have their wildlife rehabilitation license from the State of North Carolina. We rehabilitate gray squirrels, opposums, groundhogs, turtles, rabbits and other small mammals. Please contact us as soon as possible when you find orphaned or injured wildlife.
We mainly serve McDowell County, NC but will also help out in surrounding counties as foster help is available.
